Founded by Dr. Karl-Heinz Hauptmann and Count Stephan von Neipperg, Bessa Valley is still an inspiration. The Neipperg family for starters has been growing and making wine for 800 years. Therefore, there is much experience and know-how here. At Bessa Valley, it is their goal to grow the best vines and create high-quality Bulgarian wines each and every year. With a focus on nature and preservation, they are in harmony with their environment.
The wines produced here are grown in clay-limestone soils that provides both power and structure. The soil here is also responsible for adding the acidity and minerality to all Bulgarian wines here. The majority of the vines are Merlot with other varieties like Syrah, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The main cellar forms an arc that is dug into a hill. Right next door is the Rotunda where fermentation takes place.

Sintica Winery
Sintica is proud to announce that they are the new face of the Complex Experimental Station that was established in the mid-20th century. This station has been the site of vine growing and winemaking for quite some time. Today, the area provides many different vines and variations. Special grapes like the Melnik grape were created here. The winery here stopped functioning after the fall of the socialist regime. However, beginning in 2006, three wine enthusiasts reopened the center.
Today it stands to produce 500,000 liters of wine. Together with old traditions and new knowledge, the owners here have a lot of ambition and even more expertise. They aim to produce the same grapes grown by Thracians thousands of years ago. In 2008, they invested in a project to both modernize and reconstruct the winery. Since then, they have been awarded a gold medal, two silver medals, and three awards for wine of the year. Therefore, the knowledge and ambition possessed by the owners have more than paid off.
