Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup diced celery
  • 1/3 cup finely diced onion
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 (8 ounces) package cream cheese, diced
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1.5 cups cubed potatoes
  • 1/2 pound frozen cooked shrimp (thawed, patted dry)
  • 4 tablespoons dry white wine
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons Parsley (finely chopped)
  • Salt and Pepper (to taste)

Preparations

First, cube the potatoes and boil until nearly fork tender in salted water.
Next, drain the potatoes and reserve for later.

The Shrimp Chowder

First, in a large stock pot saute the celery as well as the onions in butter.
Second, add the shrimp and saute gently. Notably, this will add better flavor to the chowder.

Next, add the cream cheese and milk. Once added, stir over a low flame until the cream cheese is completely melted.
Additionally, make sure at this stage that the milk and cream cheese are incorporated together.

Once thickened, Add the potatoes, as well as the dry white wine, salt, and pepper.
Heat through the chowder through, ensuring the potatoes are soft, and shrimp is cooked through.
Furthermore, stir occasionally to avoid the chowder sticking to the pot.
If desired, add parsley at the end and give a final stir.

Serve hot!
