Chilled white wine can be an amazing treat on its own. These cocktails however take white wine to the next level. The following cocktails are perfect for summer cookouts, barbecues, or even a day on the porch with a great book. We at SecondBottle wish you a very happy, wine filled summer!

The White Wine Cocktails

Mint Melon Cucumber Sangria:

Tired of red wine sangria’s and that next day headache? This Mint Melon Cucumber Sangria is the perfect crisp and delicious cocktail, a pitcher in front of you will be dangerous; make sure to bring friends! The light and unique flavors of this sangria will have you making this sangria again and again. This is one of our favorite light white wine cocktails!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cucumber, sliced into thin rounds. (Seedless is recommended)
  • 1 Honeydew melon, cubed/melon balled.
  • 2 limes, (1 thinly slice, one squeezed for ¼ cup juice)
  • Fresh Mint leaves (10-15)
  • ¼ cup of natural honey
  • 1 bottle of semi dry, or unsweetened white wine. (Dessert wines will make the drink too sweet)
  • 1 Liter of Carbonated water.

Instructions:

Cut the Honeydew into small cubes or use a melon baller to make them round. Place the melon, along with the thinly sliced cucumber, and the lime slices into a pitcher. Add the mint. In a separate container mix the reserved lemon juice and honey together well, pour over the fruit mixture in the pitcher and add the bottle of white wine. Mix well to ensure the honey is distributed evenly.

To serve, add a small amount (up to your discretion) of the carbonated water into a glass, and pour the Mint Melon Cucumber Sangria over it. Garnish with a mint leave and a lime wedge.

White Strawberry-Lemon Sangria

This second take on a beautiful white wine sangria takes you away from the crispness of cucumber and into the sweetness of strawberries, the sour tartness of lemon, with a beautiful hit of rum. Another classic summer recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 1 apple (Sliced thinly)
  • 2 lemons (Both sliced thinly)
  • 1 cup rum
  • 4 cups lemon-lime soda
  • 1 cup of strawberries (Sliced thinly)
  • 750 ml white wine (your favorite white wine will do, sweet or dry)

Instructions:

Cut the fruit into thin slices and place in a pitcher (Reserve one lemon). Pour the rum over the fruit and refrigerate for about 3 hours or until cold. When ready to serve, slice the final lemon and place it in the pitcher and pour the wine overtop. Add the soda when you bring out the pitcher to serve to preserve the carbonated bubbles. Mint is optional.

The Classic Bellini:

The last cocktail is a summer classic and you could not have a summer cocktail list without it. Invented by a bar owner in Venice sometime during the second world war or several years before; this drink has become famous worldwide. If you haven’t had it, you need to.

Ingredients:

  • 6 ounces of Prosecco.
  • 4 ounces homemade peach puree.

Instructions:

First, to make the Peach Puree, take the peaches, 2 tablespoons of sugar, a tablespoon of fresh lemon and puree in the food processor. Place in a sieve and remove all peach solids.

Once the peach puree is set aside, take a champagne flute. Place several spoonfuls of the Peach puree in the glass, and fill the rest of it with chilled prosecco. You will love it.
