- 1 cucumber, sliced into thin rounds. (Seedless is recommended)
- 1 Honeydew melon, cubed/melon balled.
- 2 limes, (1 thinly slice, one squeezed for ¼ cup juice)
- Fresh Mint leaves (10-15)
- ¼ cup of natural honey
- 1 bottle of semi dry, or unsweetened white wine. (Dessert wines will make the drink too sweet)
- 1 Liter of Carbonated water.
Cut the Honeydew into small cubes or use a melon baller to make them round. Place the melon, along with the thinly sliced cucumber, and the lime slices into a pitcher. Add the mint. In a separate container mix the reserved lemon juice and honey together well, pour over the fruit mixture in the pitcher and add the bottle of white wine. Mix well to ensure the honey is distributed evenly.
To serve, add a small amount (up to your discretion) of the carbonated water into a glass, and pour the Mint Melon Cucumber Sangria over it. Garnish with a mint leave and a lime wedge.
White wine cocktails are perfect for summer as they are lighter, more refreshing and easier to drink than their red counterparts.
White Strawberry-Lemon Sangria
This second take on a beautiful white wine sangria takes you away from the crispness of cucumber and into the sweetness of strawberries, the sour tartness of lemon, with a beautiful hit of rum. Another classic summer recipe.
- 1 apple (Sliced thinly)
- 2 lemons (Both sliced thinly)
- 1 cup rum
- 4 cups lemon-lime soda
- 1 cup of strawberries (Sliced thinly)
- 750 ml white wine (your favorite white wine will do, sweet or dry)
Cut the fruit into thin slices and place in a pitcher (Reserve one lemon). Pour the rum over the fruit and refrigerate for about 3 hours or until cold. When ready to serve, slice the final lemon and place it in the pitcher and pour the wine overtop. Add the soda when you bring out the pitcher to serve to preserve the carbonated bubbles. Mint is optional.
