Red Wine Vinegar Baked Ham With Maple Glaze

Red Wine Vinegar Baked Ham With Maple Glaze

In the first place, this simple Red Wine Vinegar Baked Ham with a gorgeous maple glaze is the perfect mix of sweet and sour! Furthermore, the tender baked ham absorbs all of the amazing flavors of the glaze, yielding gorgeous results. As a result of fermentation, beautiful red wines are turned into red wine vinegar. The red wine is fermented until it sours. As well, it can be aged or served young. Aging mellows the flavor of the red wine vinegar. Keep this in mind when purchasing; older red wine vinegar is stronger than young.

As well, the short ingredient list for this amazing baked ham makes it easy. With minimal preparation and maintenance, with maximum flavor; how can it be bad?

Ingredients

  • 1 (5 Pound at least) Cooked, Bone-In Ham
  • 1/4 Cup Maple Syrup
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon Mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Red Wine Vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Dry Mustard

Preparations

First, preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
Second, Trim excess fat off the ham and score a diamond pattern into the Ham with a sharp knife.
In order to do so, make shallow cuts into the ham about 1 inch apart.

Next, place the Ham in a roasting pan.
Furthermore, roast for 30 minutes in the preheated oven.

Next, in a small bowl, mix together the maple syrup, red wine vinegar, Dijon mustard and
mustard powder.

When the 30 minutes have elapsed, brush one-third of the glaze over the ham.
Bake for 20 more minutes, and repeat twice with remaining glaze.

Lastly, let the ham stand for 10 to 15 minutes before carving, allowing the juices to redisperse within the ham.
