Sonberk – the architectural icon of the Czech Republic´s winemaking – produces original unparalleled quality wine on 45 hectares of its self-titled vineyard. Their grapes are sustainably grown, hand-picked and carefully selected for an annual yield of 30,000-150, 000 bottles; depending on the quality of the vintage.

Grapes

Sonberk grows a wide variety of grapes on their property, from which they produce amazing, unparalleled Czech wines. Some of the wonderful varieties grown are floral Sauvignon, the uniquely Czech Moravian Muscat, stunning Pinot gris and Chardonnay, delicious Riesling. As well, they grow full-bodied merlot, aromatic gewurztraminer, and crisp Sauvignon Blanc!

Wine Types

The main wines of this period are Riesling 2015 VOC, Pálava 2015/2016 VOC, Pálava 2016 – straw wine and oak aged cuvées Chardonnay & Pinot gris 2015 and Sémillon/Sauvignon 2015. Special position goes to Merlot, which they have only 0,75 hecters and they make the unique red wine only in very limited amounts of very good vintages.

Decanter World Wine Awards assigned Sonberk a Platinum medal Best in Show for Best Dry Aromatic Wine, a Platinum medal Best in Category – Czech Sweet and a Regional Trophy for the Best white dry wine of Central and Eastern Europe. Their wine we have reached 91 points in the American magazine Wine & Spirits as one of the best from Europe. Every year Sonberk assumes a place in the National Salon of Wines – the winning collection of 100 best Czech wines for the respective year. Sonberk became the absolute winner of the competition Winery of the year 2013 and category winner in 2015, after being a finalist in 2014, 2012 and 2009. Every year Sonberk qualifies for the finale of Prague Wine Trophy, Czech Republic´s most reputable international wine competition, having been its absolute champion twice. The Guide of Czech and Moravian wines has granted Sonberk a full point score. Last but not least Sonberk is finalist of the prestigious competition Design of the year.
